About COI Desk
Understand first. Start the conversation when you’re ready. COI Desk helps small contractors organize insurance-document questions before contacting an agent or insurer.
Why I started COI Desk
My name is Roberto Noboa, and I’m a business owner. When I began looking into insurance information for my business, I wanted to understand the important details before speaking with a provider. I didn’t want my first step to be sharing my contact information and receiving sales calls before I knew what to ask.
I wanted a clearer starting point: which information to gather, which terms to understand, and which questions to take into the conversation. That experience inspired COI Desk—a practical resource focused on certificate of insurance requests for small contractors in the United States.
What you can do here
Read practical guides, work through preparation checklists, and organize your details with the free COI request builder. The goal is to help you prepare a clearer message, identify missing information, and approach your insurance professional with useful questions. You decide when to make contact and what information to share.
Preparation, not a coverage decision
COI Desk is an independent educational resource. We are not an insurance company, agency, or brokerage. We do not sell insurance, issue certificates, or determine whether a policy satisfies your client’s requirements. Your agent or insurer must confirm policy details and provide any official insurance documents.
Our editorial approach
Our content is developed with AI assistance and editorial review. We link to supporting sources and distinguish practical examples from official requirements. Fictional scenarios and illustrative photographs are identified as such. Specialist insurance review is currently pending. Our resources help organize a conversation; they do not replace advice about your individual policy.
